The California ISO has published its technical report on the solar eclipse of August 21, 2017, including its effect on solar production and the electric system, and the ISO’s management of the drop and ramp up of solar power. The report covers the ISO’s preparation for the eclipse; the solar loss during the eclipse; the rapid ramp upward of solar production subsequent to the eclipse; grid and market behaviors; and ISO’s strategies for maintaining grid reliability and supply during the event.
