In February 2016, the Northern California chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) recognized Alameda’s Public Works Department for its program “Walking the Talk: Green Certifying the City of Alameda’s Public Works and Other Departments.” Most city departments have already achieved Green Business Certification through the program.
