Congressional support needed to expedite smart grid adoption

“The smart grid hasn’t been a focus of congressional funding since 2009, and more support is needed to bridge the funding gap to modernize the grid by 2030, Richard Campbell of the Congressional Research Service says. Costs could reach up to $476 billion to update the grid over the next two decades, but benefits could reach up to $2 trillion, according to the Electric Power Research Institute.”
