“DEFINITION: Under the immediate direction of the Environmental Services Manager or his/her designee, assists in a variety of Environmental Programs and related activities within the Environmental Services Division of the Public Works Department.
ESSENTIAL / MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Essential: Provide outreach materials and verbal instruction to customers (residential, multifamily and commercial) regarding waste reduction and mixed recycling and organics recycling programs; assist the Division’s Administrative Analysts with a variety of other programs (e.g. water conservation and storm water pollution prevention). Marginal: Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Common office computer programs, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; environmental programs, such as water conservation and recycling programs; and basic environmental principles. Ability to: Plan, organize, and coordinate workload; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; follow direction, both oral and written; operate a personal computer; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; deal tactfully and courteously with the public; maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include standing or sitting for extended periods of time; and stooping, bending, and lifting.”
