Position Description
The Sustainability Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support for the university’s sustainability program. Assists with the planning, analyzing, reporting, communicating, and launching of campus wide sustainability programs and initiatives. Sustainability programs include energy efficiency, water conservation projects, recycling, zero waste initiatives, and collaborative sustainability projects with students, faculty, and the wider community. Coordinates the administrative tasks related to the Sustainability Committee, Working Groups, and other sustainability focused committee activities. Assists with communication, training, and outreach programs and events. Assists with data collection, tracking, and reporting. Assists in the supervision of student assistants and coordination of internships and volunteer participation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of and interest in sustainability issues and concepts. Ability to develop and deliver presentations and papers in both formal and informal settings. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work with various and diverse constituencies to identify issues and develop working relationships. Working knowledge of program development, event planning, and project implementation. Good decision making, judgment, discretion, and confidentiality skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to coordinate a wide variety of duties, responsibilities, and projects with competing deadlines. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to maintain and report progress on multiple projects and tasks and adjust to short and often changing deadlines.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university’s commitment to a “vision of excellence.”
Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
