New Alpine Zero Net Energy Library Groundbreaking Ceremony Held March 6th

News

A new zero net energy (ZNE) library in Alpine held its Groundbreaking Ceremony on March 6th. The new library is the County of San Diego’s first of multiple ZNE libraries planned for construction, and combines energy efficiency and renewable energy strategies to achieve its net zero energy use. Utilized strategies include architectural design to minimize HVAC and lighting needs (north-facing windows, daylight harvesting), LED lighting, variable refrigerant flow (VRF), and rooftop solar photovoltaics (PV). For more on the library, see this FAQ sheet from San Diego County Libraries.
