On Monday SGIP, theSelf-Generation Incentive Program, re-opened with more than $50 million in available subsidies for residential and commercial energy storage systems. The California Solar Energy Industries Association (CALSEIA) has estimated that SGIP Step 1 will support 340 large-scale battery systems and 1,400 residential systems smaller than 10 kW, which will more than double the current capacity of behind-the-meter energy storage in California.
