Through the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), the municipalities of Blythe, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage, and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians have worked together with Southern California Edison to develop climate action planning for energy efficiency policies and programs. This Green Building Manual was recently released on the “Green for Life” partnership’s website to guide activities under the region’s voluntary green building program.
Educational offerings have been paired with the regional green building program – including educational events for local elected officials and City commission members, and City implementing staff and building officials – to ensure the City and community understand the value of green building, and added value of reach codes and other goals under the California Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan (CEESP, or EESP) in strengthening the community.
For more on the development of the regional green building program, see this presentation by CVAG.
