Worst-case scenario plans in place as Florence bears down

“Duke Energy Corp. officials said as many as 75 percent of its customers in North and South Carolina could lose electricity during Hurricane Florence, and some should expect to be without power for weeks. There is concern that its coal ash ponds could flood, releasing toxic materials into rivers and streams and eventually affecting drinking water.”
