Priority Area: Community Resilience
Barrier: Natural and Working Lands

Challenge/Local/State

Description

Challenge

Insufficient and fragmented funding prevents proven land use change and nature-based solutions from scaling to meet need; with multi-benefit projects requiring pooled funding streams with conflicting rules and timelines that smaller organizations cannot manage alone.

  • Illustrative Example: Prop 4 allocated $200 million to MLRP while the land use change MLRP is spearheading represents tens of billions of dollars, illustrating the vast gap between available funding and actual need for nature-based solutions at scale.
Region: Central Coast, San Joaquin Valley
