Microgrid Incentive Program – PG&E

Senate Bill 1339 (enacted in 2018) directed the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), in consultation with the California Energy Commission (CEC) and California Independent System Operator (CAISO), to develop policies related to microgrids throughout California. In April 2023, the CPUC approved a $200 million Microgrid Incentive Program (MIP) to support the development of clean Community Microgrids in DVCs. Communities, local and tribal governments, and community-based organizations (CBOs) that are eligible for the MIP can request funding to support the critical energy needs of vulnerable populations most likely to be impacted by grid outages.

Reach out PG&E for consultation requests by December 31, 2023 ahead of the July 10, 2024 application open date.
