Challenge/Local/State

Description

Challenge

Dependence on investor-owned utility transmission infrastructure exposes communities to rising costs and reliability risks outside local control, with PG&E’s lack of competition allowing inflated rates that force consumers to subsidize wildfire liabilities, leaving residents and businesses unable to opt out of a system that is increasingly failing them financially and operationally.

Region: Central Coast, San Joaquin Valley
